You could design it so half of it could be mounted separately for
use as a single scope. As someone pointed out, Paracorrs and Barlows
can be used to get f-8 if you really want it.

I agree on the performance of bino vs mono visually. One minor down side to
binos is that collimation problems make it difficult to use at high power
so you tend to get limited to low X wide field objects & there just aren't
all that many of them.

Suding's 20" binos were the largest I've seen & used. He's sold
them to someone I think. IMHO they were roughly equivalent to
a 30" mono view at TSP, one of the more memorable views with them was
of Omega Centauri 3-D filling the field.
