ATM DB-25 Connector?

O.K. I give up.  I'm man enough to admit when I'm beat...

I'm STILL piecing together the PCB I bought from Mel for his tracking
system.  I'm nearly done with everything, but the final connections are
killing me.  The jacks I've seen so far won't solder in to the parallel
port connection on the board.  After an abortive attempt to strip the
25 conductors in a ribbon cable and solder them in place, I'm desperate
for a board mount DB-25 connector (right?)

How have others handled this specific connection?  I'm sure the item
exists, but I need to know EXACTLY what to search for (a vendor and
part number would be really appreciated).  I tried to explain exactly
what I needed at Radio Shack and got a blank look...
