Re[2]: ATM What to do?

Now, don't be nasty Richard. The biggest problem with Meade's
and broken correctors is that they hand select matched sets.
This is a time consuming process. Most of what these companies
charge is based on people time. The grinding and polishing
machine most likely only add about 10 to 15% of the final
cost, or even less.
The continuing battle between Celestron and Meade on pricing
means that free service will continue to suffer. It is
all what you want, cheap pricing or free services, I don't
know how a business can provide both and be as large as
Meade or Celestron is.
Why is it that you don't see other parts break? I guess
it is the correct that takes most of the impact when
someone drops one while trying to find the screw hole in
the bottom to mount it.
As ATMers, We should look at ways the mounting could be
improved for fork mount SCT's, not just the next Dobson.
