All,

My strong belief was, that rendering a street lamp temporarly
non-functional, even if it did not harm the lamp in any manner, had to be
illegal.  After searching, extensively, two different archives of legal
statues and such, for the state of California, I have found no law which
even mentions such mischief.  Still, I am incline to think that some over
zealous officer of the court would find some way to discourage anyone
foolish enough to get caught, from attempting such an act a second time, or
at least getting caught a second time.

I would add that to date, the street light, located annoyingly close by,
has shown no irregular illumination cycling.  On a wholely unrelated note,
it has been overcast for quite some number of days.
