RE: ATM Amateur vacuum coatings.

        I need to present my view (which I suspect may be shared by many) about this VERY 
specialized piece of ATM.

        I have never coated a mirror and I doubt that I ever shall.  Truthfully, I really 
have no interest in extending my hobby interests in that direction.  

        HOWEVER, I really DO appreciate hearing details about how someone, like Sam, has 
worked a problem.  Partly, I find the technology interesting even though I don't want to 
do it myself.  Perhaps more importantly for this case, I am a user of coating services.  
I feel that the more I know about how coating is done, the better a consumer I am.  In 
the final analysis it may help me choose the better vendors and will certainly help me 
better evaluate the quality of the product I receive.  In the long run I end up with a 
bit better telescope.

        So I am strongly in favor of hearing about the process.  Although I don't mind 
going to a web site to see the details, I personally don't mind seeing the details on 
this list.
