Mike.....If you bring your tester to RTMC, stop by the mirror grinding project that will tentativley be happening in Coombs lodge, and let us see how it works. .....Rich (Combs).

An alternative to the standard razor blade with Foucault Testers is the back side of XActo saw blades. They are about 1.5" long and the teeth can be coated with a bead of hot glue or anyother "bumper" that will protect from knicks and gouges in the eyeball!

Just a comment on the entire Foucault tester thread: I've made several different types of testers and have found that for me anyway, the best are those that have a light source that moves with the knife edge. I make mine so that one edge of the slit is also the knife edge. My light source is one of the Radio Shack Jumbo Red Leds powered by two 1.5 VDC penlight batteries. I have absolutely NO problem in seeing the shadows.

I think I'll be taking an extra Foucault Tester or two to TSP this year if you or anyone else would be interested in looking it over.
