I agree with your comments concerning the right angle bend. Some playing with the formulas in Rutten's book indicate that I'd need an f/3 (!) or so primary and would still end up with an f/13 overall system in order to make the optical path long enough to go around the bends. I'll go check out the 6" f/8 dob. Thanks for the pointer Maybe "light and portable and binocular" is an oxymoron for anything over 60 mm...
