You imply that you are going to use more that three blobs of silicone to stick your mirror to the support. That will result in the mirror not floating freely. What I did on a thin mirror (4.25" dia. X 7/16" thick) was silicone three triangles to the mirror back and then silicone the center of each of the triangles to the mirror support. It works well, much better that just three blobs on the mirror that I tried at first.
