I guess the thread should really be "fun things you can do with fuming nitric acid". I also played around with such stuff when I was twelve etc, and am lucky to still have fingers and eyes. My brother had a test tube of "stuff" turn into tiny shards while carrying it from a water wash in the sink. Seems the nitrate concentration drops when these chemicals are placed safely (?) under water, and the "stuff" becomes unstable. Dilute-dilute-dilute. I will be having a nice company with a vacuum deposit tank do my mirror. I have heard that EMF in Ithica NY does a nice job. Any comments? Dave McCarter Clear Skies or Grind Glass
