And then there is the occasional surprise when the aluminum strips right off with the strippable coating. Happened to me with a brand new diagonal that I didn't plan to use right away and I thought I'd preserve the aluminum with it. I've since decided I don't need my mirrors *that* clean. Can't remember what kind I got or where I got the it, and maybe it's not meant to be left on for long periods.
