If you are doing your optics :

1. Jean Texerau , 'How to make a telescope' (it should really take first three places on the list!) 2. Rutten & Venrooij, 'Telescope optics, evaluation & design' 3. Ingalls' ATM 1,2 and 3 (if you can get them) 4. Advanced telescope making techniques (collection of articles from Maksutov club circulars)

And if you are serious about testing, few good reference books as well : Macalara, Suiter, and few more that I can't remember of top of my head. Oh yes, if you can read Russian another "not to miss" is Maksutov's 'Evaluating and manufacture of astronomical optics'.

First two on the list are gold mines, and I think that they are "must" for any ATM library. There are few books around "competing" with Texerau (Howard, Brown, etc) but none comes even close to it, especially when MAKING and TESTING the optics is concerned (at least for me, anyway).

If you are only assembling (buying optics), there are few good books around. I liked Berry's book.
