Regarding the use of "canned air" to blast dust off a mirror - I had the
blue haze problem once in the past. First of all (as we both have learned),
don't put the air nozzle too close to the mirror. It seems that some
impurities or propellants need some distance before they are completely
into the gaseous form. As for the blue haze, a gentle soap & water wash
cleaned my mirror just fine.
Generally, when I clean my mirrors, I use soapy water with cotton swaps to
gently wash the surface. I also use a windex-style squirter to blast grime
off (using distilled water only). I then rinse the mirror on its edge with
distilled water. If the mirror is truely clean, I never get any droplets
to worry about.
