Re: [ATM] ATM: Artifact from another solar system, UFOs? (unknown optical device)
seriously off topic. But if they ever did produce such an artifact, it would be the absolutely biggest news in the world for a really, really long time. Even more amazing than Columbus' first contact with a 'new world.'.

I have often wondered why the "fringe" people (so-called ufologists
included) have never produced an obviously, unequivocally explanation
defiant artifact, as they do in some sci fi novels.
I think it would at least be more interesting than your average prime
television show. Or the news, and particularly, the car commercials.

P.S.- I know you technology buffs will find this anecdote interesting; I saw
and heard it first hand, decades ago. Johnny carson had professor Zworykin
(I cannot remember his first name, ever) on his show; you know, the guy who
invented the first practical television electron scanning image tube for
electronic television- the "image orthicon", I think they called it.
Johnny Carson asked him: "Professor, what is your favorite television show?"
Zworykin's answer was classic: "I don't ever watch television."
