Re: [ATM] modified sine wave inverter OK with synchronous motor?

The syncronous motors handle the square waves fairly nicely.
They do heat up0 a bit more as there is a lot more power in a
square wave.
I have an article on my pages on converting a little inverter so
it can be used for telescope control. These little power
convertors are often sold for twenty bucks or so at the big
retailers. They are modified sine wave generators inside which
just means that the signal you see is more of a pulse in both
directions from the 0V level. They are the little 100W or so
convertors for camping and so forth. A little bit of help from
an electronics wizard in your group of friends will turn it into
a nice drive controller for this application.
