The syncronous motors will easily handle more than twice the
frequency that they are rated for if you don't stress them.
Their only problem is that they are slightly resonant so there
wil some a speed at which they will not turn.  Running them
slower can also be done but don't go under  half the speed or
they may start drawing much higher current and thus heat up.
I'll also note that syncronous motors only run one way.
