  I know what you mean, wider/deeper steps would be nice, but would 
make for a heavier ladder. So it's a trade-off, small/compact or 
big/large steps. For me, I'd have to strap standard 6' A-frame ladder 
to the roof of cars I have, I can fit my Model-22 inside (seat folded) 
or my Model-13 (without folding seat) no problem.

  For my scopes the 3-Step ladders works well. I even use it a chair
when looking a things closer to the horizon. The 4-step
might be better for taller scopes and the step ladders have
larger steps.

  For the tall ladder I use their "Work Platform" to stand/sit on.
The anti-skid feature of it might be a bit ruff for sitting for some
but it doesn't bother me.

  Whatever works...
