Dale's right - LEDs won't do it.  Try setting the pieces under a large 
fluorescent light (no filter) and you should see multi-colored 
fringes.  If that works, you've got a reasonable air gap and the 
pieces are clean enough.

After that, find a better source of light.  I use black lights without 
the blue filter they normally put around them.  They have a strong 
green line that I use a filter gel to help isolate.  For a quick test, 
you can try compact fluorescent lights bulbs with a red filter, but 
it's not as good as the black lights.

I am told fluorescent bug lights have a strong green spectral line, 
too.  Since they're brighter, I may try these in the future.
