My Foucault/Ronchi tester uses 50 Watt halogen lamp. I have
already done many terrible things to it over the years. Forcing
it to take on a few more components required for phase contrast
pales in comparison to the many other tortures I have already
imposed. I think I still have an ancient slide projector, so I
may try with that as well.
Out of curiousity, what is the most significant defect you
would exoect to identify?
Also, you mentioned the mirror shown was coated. Does it by
chance have one of these additional "protective" coatings?
