Re: [ATM] sub-apeture maskutov corrector
I have some Oslo designs, including a couple of Maksutov
designs. I have not worked on the Maks for some time, but
could offer what I have. Please note I have switched over
to Osloedu (Slackware distribution of Linux), and the len
files do not necessarily transfer seemlessly between this
and Windows SoloLT.
Perhaps ever more interesting, did anyone ever write
software to solve the ROC for the surface profiles of
the Mak corrector? The last time I recall discussing on
this list about Maks, it sounded like the optimal Mak
corrector was not actually spherical, at least one of
the surfaces was improved by introducing an aspheric
deformation on at least one surface (Simak???), which you
can add to Osloedu or OsloLT, but I have never had luck
trying to optimize for this. Adding an aspheric could be
an iterative process, assuming no one has gotten round to
writing software that includes deformation constants.
That being said, I recently encountered another optics
design program (fabulously expensive) that included a
function that calculates and adds Schmidt corrector
polynomial coefficients to a pre-defined optical system.
I would not be surprised if this appears in Oslo, and
who knows, maybe even something for Maks correctors.

telescopes. I'm looking for a OSLO design ( or similar) for a
klevtsov (TAL) design so that I can compare the performance. I'm also
seeing some contradictory statements on a new Vixen--- does it use the
klevtsov design or a simple sub-aperture maskutov design ?
