Seems to be a lot of controversy about this. I think a lot of it comes down
to your night-time pupil diameter and the diameter of the area of the cornea
that gets remodeled. If the edge of the remodeled area is out of the light
path, no problem. If it is in the light path, you are at risk for a lot of
refraction problems due to the edge itself. Also, it seems that some of the
halos and pointed star issues clear up as the cornea heals.
Someone I know who has a ?4 - 4.5 mm pupil does not see stars abnormally,
and notes they have about 1 magnitude better night vision than before, when
they used contacts. Others report very different results. YMMV. Several
Lasik machines/software can also correct a lot of astigmatism, others less
so, best to ask a lot of questions.
