No problem Joe.  Just make an optical flat of appropriate thinness so it 
won't break under tension, and another equatorially driven flat to direct 
the light into the flexed mirror. This idea and proposals for unlikely 
short. focal lengths pops up often in my mail. You properly specify a "flat 
piece of glass".
