Re: [ATM] New 16" ultralight telescope
Tony,
I was more interested in obvious defects in figure caused by non-homogenities
or stresses in the glass. I have some polaroid filters available for testing but the
local glass company does not stock the glass. They want me to order a min
of 2x2 feet for them to go through the trouble of obtaining the glass and are really
not interested in taking it back if it's not suitable. So... for $60.00 I can order a
piece or ask if someone else has done the testing... I wanted it for a 20 inch
window that I plan on figuring myself anyway so flatness isn't the main issue.

Starfire is an German art glass that's prized for it clarity and slight blue

that there's any reason to think that a slab of this stuff would be any
better then hit or miss in terms of optical flatness.
