Have you done any testing of the complete optical system with the Starfire glass in place? I'm interested in seeing if there's much effect on the system figure. A knife edge or Ronchi at the eyepiece position will be the test to determine this. I've priced Starfire locally and though it's advertised as good for our purposes, I don't want to spend what they want ($60.00) for a 2X2 foot piece to do the test.

I liked that wire spider of Alan's. But if someone is concerned with
spider spikes, why bother with a spider at all? I made a 16" dob and
had a a piece of Starphire glass cut and used it as protective front
plate and secondary holder. If I recall the glass was rated at 92%
transperant in the visible range and had zero affect visually on deep
sky objects.
