I'm not so keen on the lap in the freezer method.  It seems very liekly
to cause poor contact at least at the start of the polishing session,
because of differential contraction.  Also, it means your lap is not
stable during your polishing session, but changing properties as you go.

If you have been using too much pressure (go with other's advice on
this, I am not a pressure expert), then you may be able to use the
softer pitch with less pressure.  Do you have a cool place to work, such
as a basement?
