Re: [ATM] start...tool....
Saqib,
Plaster of Paris will work very well it is rather cost efficient, and
you don't need to coat it with epoxy, varnish will do. The way I make a
tile tool is to take the blank lightly oil the surface place the tile
onto it, build a dam around the blanks edge (foil or masking tape both
work well) now you fill the dammed area with PoP that is a little on the
runny side, vibrate to get as much air out and then leave to set on a
level surface. When set, let it cure/dry out for a week or so and then
varnish twice with a 50/50 mix of varnise and turpentine. After this one
or two coats of undiluted varnish will make the tool ready for use.
Between grits to keep any stray grit from doing damage use aerosol spray
varnish to re-seal the tool's working face, just one generous coating
will do for this.
Just remember if you are hogging with a tile tool you might have to make
a second tool for fine grinding, just so you don't wear through the
tiles, which is a bad thing!
Enjoy the project.
Cheers, Thomas in Australia.
