Re: [ATM] Optical Mouse for shaft encoders.

Bonjour Bill.

Before by two years I have done it myself experiment with Optical mouse used
as shaft encoders for RA and DEC senzore.

On principle that function - but repeatability of measurements there's not
satisfactory.

I am performed a lot of tests in practice and in laboratory. Shown here test
result:

Attainable accuracy (exactness) for ten times of guiding was in the range of
1 arc-degree.

Info detailed (the paper is in French *.PDF) find here

http://web.iol.cz/elektro-metal/navi-fr-1.pdf

see chapter 2.2, Fig 4 - 8.

Recommend to look-in electronics modulus NAVIGATOR and our SW for evaluation
(semi-automatic) of P.E. - FFT.

Regards

Jan
