[ATM] ATM: James's zip file-
To all:
Well, I never did unzip James Crombie's (sorry for mis-spelling your last
name a while ago, James) zip file; I only downloaded it. I suspect James
will get this fixed, and even fix the other URLs for the pages he put up. He
certainly knows more about cyber technology than me; I revised and revised
and revised his URLs; mine (my versions) never worked, either. I think James
uses a more ("different") versatile browser than Internet Explorer.
Too bad for us Billy Gates slaves. On the other hand, I admire Billy Gates.
Go ahead, all of you: chew me up, spit me out, stomp me into the dirt. I am
a simpleton with a ring in my nose.
King Billy's wife sure is pretty, too. And he is the only philanthropist I
have heard of who gives sums for worthy recipients in ten digit figures (not
including the pennies). He can't be all bad. What ever happened to admiring
successful entrepeneurialship? (Not one of his lieutenants held a bayonet or
gun in the back of the people he sold his ideas to).
I know James will get his files regularized in some way for us King Gates
slaves, and then publish them to the list.
Thanks, James-
Dave
And thank you, Gordon, for this link:

P.S. The summer I built this very, very efficient optical bench was the
summer I was getting ready to finish (figure) mirrors for Parks Optical,
under contract. Turned up edge, my bane, the thing I could not even avoid
when I tried to get A TURNED DOWN EDGE ON PURPOSE, derailed the project.
(pun accidental; all my puns are accidental- I am not bright enough to think
up puns by design).
However, I was sure proud of the DISASTER of a mirror I fixed for a
gentleman in Texas; it was a MESS. I turned it into a very beautiful,
smooth, F/4.51 paraboloid for him without a single mis-step in figuring. The
only other thing I can do this good (except for turned up edges) is fly old
airplanes with "conventional landing gear". The fellow with the ten inch was
a "satisfied customer". That was the last time I ever worked a piece of
glass; now I have seriously injured (three months ago) my left arm, and I
doubt if I could ever push glass again, even if I wanted to. It is not
healing. Something is broken in my shoulder; in addition to the impairment
and pain, I can hear it "click', often.
You guys are great-
Dave
