[ATM] Re: Mirror Figuring Docs
Coming your way now, Mike.
Everyone has found them useful. The primary html email message may not
display the pictures; have no worry, the same document (with same pictures)
is attached as an html doc (sorry- a Word 2000 doc.). You will find the
collection of five articles a very comprehensive approach to figuring from a
guy who learned it all the hard way. Grit your teeth; the download is about
2.2 megs. By the way, there is some instruction in Tex that can and usually
does lead the beginner into trouble; I have drawn attention to this in one
of the articles.
Thanks for request, Mike. Do not hesitate to ask questions; I have given up
atm-ing for TEACHING atm-ing, and I love it.
I injured my right arm three months ago, and it is not very far from useless
(no more pushing glass, even to save my life!) and it refuses to heal. I
cannot lift it above my shoulder without acute pain, and cannot pick up
anything "overhand".

Your friend,

P.S.- Never too busy for my atm pals; Theresa's worst times are still in the
future (near future, unfortunately- we will have to wait until she needs
life saving surgery in order for her to have relief; she has no insurance,
no physician- these are rights reserved only for citizens of all of the
OTHER, POORER, western industrialized 1st world nations). Hopefully all of
the articles will be on oyther atm web sites soon. I have had many offers
FROM MY MANY FINE FELLOW ATM FRIENDS ON THE LIST. (Thank you all!!!!).
P.P.S.- My fond dream is to write and illustrate my "massive tome" on
subdiameter figuring, for big, thin mirorrs. Might not make it; it's the
kind of thing that's a race for most men with the Grim Reaper. I might win,
though. If I do, I will give it to all of you guys. That one (subdiameter
figuring) will round out about all I know or have learned or taught myself
about mirror making (figuring). Might get to feeling good long enough to do
it; who knows?
Dave-
Look for articles, now.

Subject: Mirror Figuring Docs
Hi David,
I would really appreciate your document(s) on figuring. I have read a
partial document by you on the subject of figuring, and It helped me
get out of a problem I had been struggling with for weeks on my first
mirror -- Using the conventional Tex parabolizing stroke -- I just
couldn't get the figure to behave.. Thanks for helping us new ATMs
out.
I understand you are quite busy, so if you have a moment of leisure,
and wouldn't mind sending me the doc,or docs I would really
appreciate it.
Much thanks in advance,
Mike Warne.
