RE: [ATM] Figuring Help Request: 6" F7 - Which Stroke Next?
Hello Joe
If you want to learn some more, you can keep working. But the mirror is
quite good enough. If your main purpose is to have a very good mirror then
your tests suggest that you have that now. Or if learning to figure better
is important to you then you can experiment.
There are a number of ways that you can lessen the turn up in the outer
zone. If it is not accompanied with a sharp turn down at the last 1/8 inch I
would work the zones inside down a bit more. Wear that bump that starts
about at 75% on in to the middle and relatively the edge will straighten a
bit.
I don't know why but frequently in my experience a turn up in the outer zone
will for some reason have an especially steep turn down at the edge. But
your turn up is only so slight maybe this isn't the case. And maybe it is a
flaw in my technique that causes that. Well, if you have an abnormal turn
down at the edge then better to work directly on the outer zone and you may
be able to make the edge a bit better as you reduce the slope out there. If
you don't over do the work you probably won't make it worse. The errors are
small so overworking is likely.
If you continue work you should be prepared to see the figure get worse
before it gets better. With practice I would say you might reasonably expect
to be able to half those errors before entering the realm where getting
better is mostly shoving the curve back and forth until luckily you land on
something better.

Hi Gang,
I've posted my mirror data at
http://www.atmlist.net/contrib/coo_mo-at-yahoo-dot-com/mirror2.pdf.
If someone could give me guidance on which figuring stroke to employ next
(or maybe just tell me to quit and take the mirror as is) I would greatly
appreciate it.
I think I'm close.
BTW: Thanks for all the informative postings. I'm a list lurker and
appreciate the hard work all the active posters put in.
Thanks
