Re: [ATM] Use of bearings in (static) mirror cells
The idea of a conical mirror that is supported by a compliantly mounted
arbor is neither new nor desperate. I have mounted several conical mirrors
as large as 14", using the centrally supported conical mirror with the
central arbor mounted to my compliant focuser. This arrangement not only
allows for the primary mirror to be moved for focusing, but also allows for
collimation by adjusting tip-tilt of the focuser-primary mirror unit. There
is no floatation cell.
