Re: [ATM] Re: Lining up the STARS and Optical alignment
Gil,
Several have requested my short articles on Zulu figuring. I will send these
out soon, and I will put this request in my requests folder now.
For some unfathomable reason I am feeling very much under the weather today.
Upchucked lunch yesterday; very weak.
I think I can get these out this evening; in any case, I will get them out
today or tomorrow, if I don't croak.
You will like Zulu figuring. Ritchey parabolized the 60" mirror with full
diameter Zulu lap, six lobes shaped exactly like Zulu warrior spears.
Sometimes the lobes on the lap are shaped like Zulu Spear points, so the
name is still apt. Will send soon, if I don't croak some time today. Zulu
laps are always for a full sized tool; not for subdiameter work- that is
based on a wholly (and equally useful and valid) methodology.
Ritchey's big Zulu lap, in theory, would have parabolized, "automatically",
if he started with a perfect sphere. I expect he did.
Davey
