How large, Richard?

Can some storm window rubber, glue, hold a seventy inch mirror in place, in
a safe and stable configuration? Can you give me some examples of telescopes
over seventy inches aperture that are held together with window sealant?
Should I write Frank Melsheimer and see if he mounts his largest mirrors
this way? Because I believe that the most important work in astronomy today
is still being done with LARGE APERTURE telescopes. Edify me, enlighten me,
my mentor-in-everything. I would be cautious, leery, about being around one
of these window glued together giants.
