[ATM] undercoating for the inside of telescope tubes?

One of the folks that helps out with our telescope
making classes swears by (instead of AT) the use of
automobile undercoating paint for blackening and
deadening reflections on the inside of telescope
tubes. I personally am a little leery of using this
technique because I fear that the stuff will stay
goopy for too long. He says it's dried up just fine,
but hasn't brought it in for me to see for myself.

Has anybody else tried this?
