If you have a drill press,I'd make it out of alum.It will probably
never wear as you may expect it to.Putting a band on is more trouble then
it's worth IMHO.Besides,by the time you pattern finish the faces using a
spot sander on the drill press,it'll look like a machinist did the work.Of
course if you REALLY want to stand out,the PSA decorative
diffraction-gratings available today will make it look terrific...even in
the dark.They come in different patterns and are meant to be used in all
kinds of weather.
