Bob's sound thinking reminds me on experience with self made
(quasy) MOM. The turntable was definitely not square to the shaft.
Vertical wobbling of the blank at the side where tool was on it (TOT),
caused systematic, not averaged, pressure change due to the tool's inertia.
Result was extraordinary high astigmatism like deformation and of course
radical regrinding (not to mention machine rebuilding).
