commiserations Michael. Been there, done that. My first time was a bit more 
hectic though. The lap grabbed the mirror and slung it across the garage. 
No way I could polish out a missing chunk.
The second time, It takes me more than once to learn from my stuffups ;-p
I re centered and re ground from 600, then 1200 then polish, problem solved.
