RE: [ATM] Older Edmund Scientific Objective Lens
There is no such thing as a achromat with "no color aberration".
I haven't looked through an Edmund's lens. Most people back then got the
Jaeger's lens. Probably just because Jaeger's lenses where cheaper. So I
can't say for sure how good the lens might be, but Edmund's optics has a
pretty good reputation.
It would be nice if you are able to take a look through it and see if it
will make you happy. There are people (me for one) that like refractor views
and there are people that don't. A good achromat lens still has some
secondary color. Look at the Moon, particularly at the limb. At best focus
you should see a little violet blur at the limb of the Moon. That would be
at least a little bit of an indication that the color correction is proper
for visual use.
