Basically the same process that I use except that I use oil to keep the
stone from attaching to the glass.
A scrap piece of those plastic vertical blinds does a nice job as a dam and
it comes off just as soon as the stone doesn't flow and the back is
flattened with a wide putty knife.  It is then a good time to cut away the
stuff that flows over the side of the glass and that usually pops the tool
loose.  I start grinding about 15 minutes later.
