Yes, agreed. My original problem with the chosen tile
was my wish to get the thickest, stongest tile I could
find. I got a porcelain tile maybe 3/16" thick, it
was homogenous through the piece. Really thick tile
means buying a 12" tile, at least at the local Home
Depot. My problem came trying to segment this beast
into smaller squares, its like trying to break steel
plate.
Renting a heavy-duty tile cutter (with an over-arm
cracking lever) seems like it might be my best bet.
One afternoon would be enough to turn $10 worth of
tiles into a heap of 1" or 2" squares.
Those of you wondering if you have the hard stuff
(what we've agreed is porcelain -I think- ), you'll
know when you've found it. I bet I could support that
12" tile at the corners and not break it by leaping on
it. My little tile nippers took off (small)
glass-like shards, or nothing at all. My
tile-snapping pliers (with a scoring wheel) did
nothing at all but make my hands sore. This tile is a
whole diferent world apart from "regular" bathroom
type tile.
