Not sure of what you mean when you ask if I might have it the other way
around.  The porcelain tiles are a soft backing with a hard coating, usually
with some coloring to it.  Those things won't last long enough to get seated
into good contact with the glass as the hard stuff will be worked through in
doing that.  The ceramic tiles, by comparison are the same hardness all the
way through which may not mean much to some as porcelain tiles are also that
most of the way through.  It's the surface that is harder on the porcelain
tiles (along with a nice gloss) that can suck you in.  If you are still
unsure, look at the commong wall tiles that have the designs on them and
those are the porcelain tiles and are unusable for grinding.
