I don't think Plexiglass outgasses like a lot of other
plastics. I've used them on 24" & 32" scopes (Houston), and
a 32" (W texas) for years with no problems, with
summerime temps cycling daily in the 100's. The 24"
cover slides into a slot about 1" in front of the mirror,
the 32" are attached with clips in a recess. 

You only forget to remove the cover *once* when using
the scope...:)
