Well, the best thing may be to pack up and go home. My assumption was that the temperature change of the ambient air (I take it you mean that, not the mirror) is often reasonably slow - at least judging from others' comments I have picked up, I take it that meaningful observations can be made from time to time. 

I just believe there are ways to make the mirror a) quickly come close to some reasonable average of the ambient air, then b) track the changes, a little bit more efficiently than we have done so far. 

As for blowing - I really hate to have to tell this to the list, but in my experiments so far, I have actually used a vacuum-cleaner to s**k ambient air across the glass surface. It is a nasty thing to do, I know, and a little bit noisy, but it kind of works for me.

If there *is* an even better way, I guess most of us would like to hear about it.
