Re: ATM Daisy gun Mod- Toothpaste

I just finished my lens and for those who were concerned about the acid fret not as I used toothpaste. I started by using Glister (from Amway), then after 20 minutes of rubbing I switched to my kids Sesame Street Buble Gum flavored by Oral B, then finally Peroxicare by Arm & Hammer. Two hours later I had the center clear and only a thin rim to deal with which is covered by the retaining ring so I decided to quit.

Sadly, I  see two red dots but they are touching each other so it isn't that bad. Now for the conversion of the electronics which I bought today for $1.05 including tax. The daisy sight was only $9.95 at Walmart.

Mike,

I've bought a Copperhead (Crosman) Red Dot sight.  I found the lens
assembly very easy to remove with an exacto knife.  The coating on the lens
is another story.  I tried, in order:

Regular toothpaste (a la Mike)
Rapid White Whitening Toothpaste (a la Mike)
Zep Shower, Tub & Tile Cleaner (Phosphoric & glycolic acid) (1 hr. soak)
PCB Etchant (Ferric Chloride?) (1 week soak with agitation)

The only thing I found that worked well is some XXX Fine steel wool wrapped
around the eraser end of a pencil with a healthy dose of elbow
grease.  Unfortunately, it clears the centre of the lens and does not so
much of the edge.

Any suggestions?

Remove the battery and then the mounting peice on the sight.

Use an Exacto type knife to break the seal around the front ring that
holds the lens in
        Push the lens out
Polish lens with toothpaste - this takes around ten minutes
