RE: ATM 16" string scope finished!




Thanks Jan.  I do not use the turnbuckles when setting up.  Normally they
should not be adjusted.  Instead tensioning is done by turning the Aluminum
poles which unscrews a bolt.  Because the string is so low stretch, the
whole system goes from slack to rigid very quickly.  The tension is what I
would call hand tightened.  The system is rigid enough that with a laser
collimator installed, the spot on the primary moves less than 1mm when the
scope is swung from vertical to horizontal.

How do you know the exact force to tension the strings with the turnbuckles?
Or is it not critical?
