I looked at Ronchi's of a hose-clamped mirror a while back.  I was working 
out a way to hold a mirror in a machine.  If the clamp is tight enough and 
near enough to the surface, you get a sort of trough thing between the edge 
and 70% zone.  Double images from a tightly clamped mirror would not 
surprise me.

On the other hand, a barely snug clamp toward the back of the mirror didn't 
seem to show up on the Ronchi.  But it probably wouldn't hold the mirror 
against a shock, either.

My Rx: Loose the clamp!
