Re: ATM Arrrggg.. Loose tiles on tool!

When you make your next tool, put the tiles on the mirror with some cooking
oil as a mold release and just pour the plaster over the whole mess. Shake
it down and when the plaster gets warm and is not fluid anymore, pull the
dam off and use a putty knife to fill in any holes in the front with
scrapings from the underflow of the plaster. Handle the tool kind of gently
as it's fairly soft but it won't change it's shape on you. The tiles wont'
come out unless they are very small ones and are at the edge and the side of
the tile is exposed.
The whole process is a lot quicker and you get to start grinding in about a
hour after you pour the plaster.
You will need to make sure that the tiles are in fairly full contact with
the coarse grit and because you are already at the desired ROC, you will
have to spend equal amounts of time with MOT vs. TOT and will have to do
that through all of the grits down to the last one. Don't forget to use
short strokes and stay pretty much over the center so that you don't change
the ROC very fast and do generate a spherical surface.
