ATM Dog biscuit, New Data!
I have good and bad news
Good News:
The pattern in http://lerch.yi.org/atm/wavy.jpg is not an artifact of the
CCD nor the LED.
Bad News: (maybe not so bad...)
The pattern precisely matches the nipples on my pitch lap. (pics of the
pitch lap are on my site)
Jerome mentioned in a post that he too has seen this phenomenon as well.
I'm currently dismissing cold press causing this phenomenon because in my
early un-educated polishing sessions I would press the lap only once at the
beginning of my 2 hours polishing session (see note). I find it
tremendously difficult to believe that any deformities caused by pressing
could survive the 2 hours of constant polishing action. (but I could be
wrong.)
Anyone have any alternative thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks,

PS I now know that one needs to press the lap MUCH more often than only once
:)
