ATM Toothpaste

Toothpaste users,

I'm currently in the process of smoothing my float-glass mirror, and the finest grit i have is SiC #1200 (i.e. 25 micron). So i thought to give it a try with the acclaimed superior Colgate Sensational Whitening toothpaste.

Well, instead of usual the creamy touch of the #1200 and the soft singing sound of smoothing, it felt like there was glue between the mirror and tool and there were some horrible noises of tile edges cutting through glass. Also the spreading of the substance over the entire surface was kind of tricky. The result after one wet was a few shallow scratches, which luckily ground out quickly with the #1200.
Maybe there are ways to improve, e.g. by pre-diluting the paste into a more fluid mixture, but i will never try it again (that is: not for mirrors).
