ATM looking for Plans for standard or rotating rings

I am finishing up mounting my spider, mirrors, etc. to the veneer tube
of a 6" dobsonian I am building. Once I have the primary mirror mounted
I will be able to determine center of balance and then begin to design
how to mount the tube to the base. I can then begin to build the base.

I figure the best way to mount the the tube is a slotted plate between
two tube rings which would give me some adjustment capabilities for
proper balance. Does anyone know of a web site for plans for either
rotating or standard rings or have any ideas on designing. I don't have
much in the way of machining capabilities, just a basic shop (no lathes)
just drill press, power tools, etc.

I found commercial standard rings available at pocono's for $145-$155
for a 7-8" tube. Rotating rings would be even nicer but I don't want the
cost to be that substantial ($300+) let alone the $150 cost of standard
rings.

I have thought about screwing a channel plate directly to the tube
forgoing the rings (similar to how Discovery mounts their slotted
plate).

I also want to get around constructing a box around the tube if at all
possible.
Any ideas?
