My precision protractor is made by Hilgar-Watts. It has a resolution of
0.2" with an accuracy +-4" over 360 degrees. So there are alternatives.
Perhaps using a digital encoder as the protractor would work. Heidenheim
(sp?), I believe makes these kind of encoders.
